''Srebrenica'' by Tarik Samarah

''Srebrenica'' by Tarik Samarah is one of the most valuable documentary-artistic testimonies to genocide which shows the crime through photographs without unnecessary emotions. As Miljenko Jergović wrote on April 10, 2015, the crime is shown ''in a distilled, laboratory clean way. It is unbearable to view them and inhumane not to view them... Samarah's images contain nothing sentimental, or comforting, there are no teary faces, human sorrow, people who are hoping and expecting salvation. Those photographs will not awaken the viewers' need to identify themselves with victims. They might first lead them to share responsibility with the perpetrators. Although he did not photograph them, they are nowhere to be seen, they left long ago, went into hiding, leaving behind them a destroyed world''.
